I’ve had quite a few inquiries asking whether I’ll be running any outdoor classes in 2019 and the answer is yes. I’m looking to hold the first session on the 1st April at the usual time and place.
New Class Structure
It’s important to note that this year’s classes will be slightly different from last year’s in terms of structure. Like previously, we’ll start with a 5 to 10-minute warm-up of light exercise and mobilisation. There will be one 27-minute circuit (conditioning part) instead of two 18-minute ones. The 27-minute circuit will have 3 rounds and 3 exercise stations that up to 3 people will be able to share for 3 minutes per station. Of the 3 rounds, the first and third will include dynamic exercises like push ups, dips, leg raises, and the middle one will include static variations of the same exercise, e.g., chest dips become an L-sit hold, lying leg raises become a hollow body hold, and so on. Participants will be able to rest at any time or when sharing a piece of equipment.
This year’s circuits will involve only fundamental upper body exercises that will remain very similar from class to class. As always, easier alternatives will be given to beginners and harder ones to intermediates. I will be tracking every participant’s reps and sets for certain exercises (mainly push ups, pull ups, dips) with the intention to encourage progress. The conditioning part will focus on building your overall strength, skills training will come afterwards.
The Fun Part
After the conditioning part, there will be a fun part when participants will be able to socialize and play with the equipment for about 23 minutes. This will be a good time to talk to like-minded people while practicing what you’ve learned or what you’re working towards. I will be around to give advice, spot your handstand or assist your muscle ups if needed. In fact, I will be disappointed if nobody wants to handstand.
Booking in advance is still required and prices will remain the same:
- 1 class for £7 per person
- Two for £12
- Three for £17
- Four for £20
I look forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks and I hope that summer of 2019 is as nice as last year’s.
